Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist: The Future of Convertible Laptops

January 7, 2026

Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist

At CES 2026, Lenovo unveiled the innovative ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist—a concept turned near-production-ready device that pushes the boundaries of traditional laptops. This 14-inch ultra-lightweight notebook is equipped with a motorized pivoting hinge, allowing its screen to twist and tilt toward you for optimal interaction.

Unique Design and Functionality

The Auto Twist features a manually adjustable motorized hinge, intelligently tracking your head and posture to automatically orient the display. This means the screen can follow you around a room during presentations or video calls, enhancing user engagement and flexibility. Users can also simply knock on the closed lid to have it automatically open.

AI-Powered Companion

One of the standout features is its emoji-like AI assistant reminiscent of GERTY from the sci-fi film Moon. This virtual companion reacts to your actions—waving, donning sunglasses, and following you around—to create a more interactive experience. While charming, early demos suggested it might be slow to load and somewhat awkward after initial novelty.

Multilingual and Productivity Features

The Auto Twist supports live language translation by dynamically rotating its screen to face the current speaker, making it a superb tool for international meetings. The device packs a stunning 2880 x 1800 OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and stylus support, catering to creative tasks and note-taking.

Technical Specifications and Availability

Weighing just 3.09 pounds (1.4 kg), the laptop is powered by Intel Panther Lake processors, promising robust performance in a portable form factor. Lenovo plans to release the Auto Twist in June, starting at $1,649.
