Meta Enhances Ray-Ban Display with New Gestural and Navigational Features

January 6, 2026

Meta is expanding the capabilities of its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses with several innovative features announced during CES. These upgrades aim to improve user experience by enabling more seamless communication and navigation without the need for external devices.

Texting Without a Phone or Keyboard

One of the key updates is the introduction of the Meta Neural Band, which allows users to send texts directly from their glasses. This feature, called EMG handwriting, enables users to physically write on any surface with their hand, bypassing the need for a phone or keyboard. Currently, this feature is available as early access in WhatsApp and Messenger.

Teleprompter Functionality

Ray-Ban Display users can now utilize a new teleprompter feature. This function allows users to copy notes from their phones into customizable text cards visible on the glasses. The neural band also supports navigation through these cards, making it easier to deliver speeches or presentations. The rollout of this feature is beginning gradually this week.

Pedestrian Navigation in More Cities

Additionally, the Pedestrian Navigation feature has been extended to four new cities: Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City. This beta feature provides walking directions directly on the glasses, although it is currently limited to a select number of locations.
