The ongoing global shortage of memory chips has created a mixed bag of opportunities and challenges for Samsung. While this shortage has positively impacted Samsung’s semiconductor division, boosting its revenues, it has simultaneously posed significant hurdles for its consumer electronics sector.

Samsung’s Co-CEO T M Roh highlighted the widespread impact of the crisis in an interview with Reuters. “As this situation is unprecedented, no company is immune to its impact,” Roh stated. He emphasized that the shortage is not limited to mobile phones but extends across a broad range of consumer electronics, including TVs and home appliances.

Roh also indicated that the company might have to consider raising product prices to offset rising costs. “Some impact is inevitable,” he remarked, acknowledging that consumers could face increased prices on various Samsung products as the situation persists.

This development underscores the broader challenges faced by the global electronics industry amid supply chain disruptions, with potential implications for consumers and manufacturers alike.
