Jordan Peele’s Potential Involvement in the Blade Movie Sparks Marvel Rumors

December 31, 2025

Jordan Peele’s production company has recently been fueling speculation about a possible involvement in the long-anticipated Blade movie, sending Marvel fans into a frenzy.

From Comedy to Horror — Peele’s Creative Journey

Originally making waves in sketch comedy, Jordan Peele transitioned seamlessly into the horror genre with a string of acclaimed hits including Get Out, Us, and Nope. Through his company, Monkeypaw Productions, Peele has also been behind the scenes of several notable projects such as Candyman, Monkey Man, and Him, alongside television series like The Twilight Zone and Lovecraft Country.

The Silence on Superhero Films and the Rise of Blade Rumors

While Peele has not publicly expressed interest in superhero movies, recent cryptic posts from Monkeypaw suggest otherwise. The horror filmmaker’s potential involvement with Marvel’s Blade has become a hot topic, especially given that the Blade project has been stuck in development limbo.

How the Rumors Began

The speculation ignited when a Twitter account named Cosmic Marvel shared a rumor sourced from scooper DanielRPK, claiming: “Marvel Studios reportedly wants Jordan Peele to direct an MCU film.” Monkeypaw retweeted this with an emoji of eyes, a move that only intensified fans’ hopes and speculation.

Adding fuel to the fire, Monkeypaw’s Instagram posted an image of Peele with fangs from his ‘Sexy Vampires’ sketch, alongside the caption: “When the internet thinks you’re making a Blade reboot because you said [eyes emoji].” They also shared a story from Complex titled “Jordan Peele’s company teased upcoming Marvel film,” which notably included a disclaimer: “Your honor we are not confirming or denying this.”

The Status of the Blade Movie

Despite the buzz, the Blade film remains in a state of uncertainty. The project lacks a confirmed director and a release date. Mahershala Ali was announced to star in the title role as the vampire hunter, with Kevin Feige revealing his involvement at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.

Since then, numerous writers have contributed to the script, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Ni Pizzolatto, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson. The story’s setting has also shifted from a period piece to a contemporary setting. An R-rated film was promised, with early directors like Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange attached before their departures.

The Delays and Future Prospects

Actors such as Mia Goth have been involved, and others like Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre have come and gone from the cast. The release date has been pushed back multiple times and finally removed from Marvel’s schedule. However, Goth recently stated in Elle that she remains attached, asserting that Marvel is aiming to “do it right.”

If recent rumors are accurate, Jordan Peele’s name might soon be associated with Blade—possibly indicating a new direction for the project.
