Mammotion Upgrades Flagship Robotic Lawn Mower with Advanced Lidar Navigation
January 5, 2026

Mammotion has announced a significant upgrade to its flagship robotic lawnmower, introducing the Luba 3 AWD equipped with a state-of-the-art lidar navigation system. This new feature enables the mower to generate a live 3D map of your yard as it operates, enhancing precision and efficiency. The company showcased the Luba 3 AWD at CES 2026, highlighting its capability to scan from ground level to treetops with centimeter accuracy.
Cutting-Edge Navigation Technology
The lidar system is integrated into Mammotion’s innovative “Tri-Fusion” technology, combining lidar sensors, geopositioning, and an AI chip that utilizes built-in cameras for detailed yard analysis. Although Mammotion’s previous model, the Luba Mini AWD, was the first to feature Tri-Fusion tech, the Luba 3 AWD boasts a more powerful version.
Laser Scanning and Field of View
The Luba 3 AWD’s lidar offers a 360-degree horizontal view and a 59-degree vertical scan, reaching up to 330 feet to map your entire yard with high precision. Alongside the lidar, dual 1080p cameras and an upgraded AI chip with 10 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) enable advanced obstacle recognition.
Obstacle Detection and Navigation
Equipped with AI processing and cameras, the mower can recognize pets, toys, and over 300 other obstacles, functioning effectively in various lighting conditions. The inclusion of NetRTK geopositioning technology connects via 4G or Wi-Fi networks, allowing navigation without the need for physical base stations or wires.
Enhanced Cutting and Performance
The Luba 3 AWD features a modest increase in cutting width, now 15.8 inches (up from 15.7 inches), supported by dual six-blade discs and four independently driven motors capable of climbing slopes up to 80% (about 38.6 degrees). Powered by a 15Ah battery, it can mow approximately 7,000 square feet per hour, covering up to 1.75 acres daily.
Upgrades to Smaller Models
Mammotion is also upgrading its Luba Mini series, with the Luba Mini 2 AWD now featuring a new AI chip and three AI-powered cameras for better mapping and obstacle detection. It includes a side disc with three mini blades to trim edges along walls, fences, and flower beds.
