Lenovo Unveils the Innovative Legion Pro Rollable Laptop at CES 2026
January 7, 2026

I'm attending the Lenovo Tech World event and CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where the company has introduced some groundbreaking new technology. The highlight is the Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable—a 16-inch gaming laptop that dynamically expands to a whopping 23.8 inches of screen space at the push of a button.
While Lenovo previously showcased a rollable laptop concept with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable at CES 2025, this is their first horizontally expanding display and the first time it's been tested on a gaming laptop.
Hands-On Experience with the Legion Pro Rollable

The star of the device is its 16-inch PureSight OLED rollable display. It features three modes:
- Focus Mode: 16 inches (16:10 aspect ratio)
- Tactical Mode: 21.5 inches (21:9 aspect ratio)
- Arena Mode: 23.8 inches (24:9 aspect ratio)
These modes can be switched seamlessly with a keyboard shortcut, and the display expansion is smooth with no lag or black screens—just a tap and the screen grows or shrinks instantly. The display boasts impressive specs like a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, making it suitable for gaming and high-performance tasks.
Design and Build
At its minimum, the laptop maintains a sleek, polished look typical of Lenovo's Legion line. When fully expanded, it resembles a spaceship from a sci-fi movie—ultra-thin bezels, futuristic proportions, and a captivating display. Despite the expansion process being instant, Lenovo mentions that closing the lid while expanded might impact the display's durability, so it's probably best to avoid doing so regularly.
Hardware Specifications
Internally, the Legion Pro Rollable packs flagship hardware:
- Up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 mobile GPU
- An Intel Core Ultra 9 processor
- A full-size RGB keyboard
- A large, smooth trackpad
- Multiple ports and an RGB lightbar along the rear
Is It Ready for Production?
Lenovo envisions the Legion Pro Rollable as an ideal device for esports professionals who need large displays on the go. For traveling gamers, a 16-inch expandable screen offers a significant advantage over carrying a traditional portable monitor.
However, some questions remain:
- The horizontal expansion is impressive, but vertical adjustment isn't possible without accessories (like a stand or books).
- Many esports players use sponsored equipment provided at tournaments—they usually don't bring their own setups.
- Casual gamers might find this expensive solution less practical compared to a portable gaming laptop paired with a separate monitor.
Final Thoughts
The Legion Pro Rollable is clearly a proof of concept—a demonstration of Lenovo's innovative spirit and willingness to push device boundaries. While it may not be a mass-market product soon, it sparks exciting possibilities for future portable gaming and multi-display solutions.
